What's happening in Assam now?

1. Different organizations including AASU, SMSS, KMSS, AJYCP, Veer Lachit Sena has been protesting against the coal mining projects of government in dehing patkai rain forest of Assam. They demanded that the government should stop the mining in dehing patkai rain forest and oil mining projects in dibru saikhuwa national park. As it can affect the flora and fauna of the region. According to them, the government is taking anti-social action. And thinking about profit instead of the Assamese people and culture. Social media has played vital role in this movement as the people are seen sharing posts holding play cards on hand protesting against the decision of the government.

2. Corona has affected the lives of the Assam and the lifeline of the Assamese society. The number of corona affected persons is about to touch 5000 in Assam. But the honorable health minister Dr.Hemanta Bishwa Sharma is seen playing a vital role in the fight against corona. Recently he became ill but he is fit to fight back corona again. At present, he can be seen as the hope of the Assamese people in the time of corona. The Assam Govt has done its best to provide travel facilities to the immigrants stuck across different parts of country and provided the best quarantine facility even in such a situation.

3.Baaghjaan Oil incident has affected the flora and fauna of the region. And many people lost their livelihood. Different organizations have organized a protest against the government on the issue and blamed the oil India for it. They demanded to unsure of the life of the affected people and stop the oil mining project. And privatization of oil and coal fields to the businessmen. Many organizations have organized relief camps for the affected people. And two workers lost life on duty in the incident. 

4. It is claimed that Jayanta Bora, resident of kakodonga village was brutally beaten by the Indian Army and Assam State Police with suspect to be involved in ULFA and he lost his life. After the incident, different organizations are seen protesting against the issue and demanding the proper investigation of the incident and punishment of the people involved in the issue.

5. Three Mob lynching incidents have occurred simultaneously in the state of Assam one after another. Sanatan Deka, Debasish Gogoi, and Rituparna Pegu lost life in mob lynching. It took communal conflict because the people involved in the mob lynching were from different communities. So different leaders had a clash of opinions. And this is a major issue for the upcoming election.
